Sol & Matheson for Yamaha Motor Europe

Yamaha Racing Experience

The Challenge

Elevate Yamaha Motor Europe’s flagship Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE) into a truly once‑in‑a‑lifetime program at Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto (3–4 July 2024). The edition needed to engage an international group of high‑performance owners – primarily R1M and invite‑only R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary customers – while safely operating at speed on a MotoGP‑grade circuit. A further ambition: harness the presence of Yamaha racing legends to deepen brand love, and integrate a living‑heritage showcase.

The Brief

Deliver a premium, turn‑key two‑day experience that blends professional coaching, paddock immersion, and Yamaha storytelling. Requirements included: rider journey design by level, end‑to‑end operations and safety governance, multilingual comms/signage, VIP talent integration (on‑track and off), a heritage track sequence, and a content toolkit that extends the impact across Yamaha’s owned and partner channels.

The Solution

SMC delivered a fully integrated, turn‑key program at Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto, combining track operations, hospitality, and brand moments into one seamless rider journey: end‑to‑end logistics (garage allocations, scrutineering, radios/timing, rider‑level groups, safety briefings, and medical/marshal coordination) ran in lockstep with premium hospitality including curated hotel accommodations for all guests and crew, full‑day Food & Beverage for participants and a Pitbox bar activated between sessions.

Talent management put Valentino Rossi and Yamaha factory riders safely on track with owners, while the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club demos slotted into the timetable; evenings moved from a relaxed award ceremony on Day 1 to a formal gala dinner on Day 2, reinforcing community and recognition; multilingual wayfinding, briefing decks, credentials, and timetables kept >240 participants on time; and an on‑site content unit captured action, paddock atmosphere, and interviews for an immediate highlights reel and a rights‑cleared asset pack for Yamaha markets, participants and PR.

The Outcome

A smooth, on‑schedule program that married performance and polish. The presence of Rossi and Yamaha racing stars generated extraordinary guest energy and online traction, while the YRHC sequences and first‑owner delivery moments for the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary bikes became natural high points. Owners reported strong confidence gains and deepened affiliation with Yamaha’s Racing DNA.

  • Organization: End‑to‑end planning and on‑site operations with a clear operations bible, tight safety governance, and pit‑lane optimized for mixed rider levels.
